Daily Panchang: A Simple Guide
A Panchang describes five traditional elements of the Hindu calendar for a date and location. UniAstroVerse’s free Panchang tool also shows sunrise, sunset and the timing windows returned by the calculation provider.
The five elements
- Tithi: the lunar day.
- Vaara: the weekday.
- Nakshatra: the Moon’s lunar mansion.
- Yoga: a traditional combination based on the Sun and Moon.
- Karana: half of a tithi.
Why does the city matter?
Sunrise and sunset vary by location, and many traditional timing windows are tied to them. Always choose the city where the activity is planned rather than assuming another city’s times apply.
Rahu Kalam and auspicious windows
The tools show the provider’s Rahu Kalam, Abhijit and other traditional windows where available. A daily timing window is not the same as a personalised ceremony recommendation.
